Here is a brief overview of the new features in December 2022 around data governance, compliance, and protection offered through Microsoft PurView (MIP, etc.).
These include notably:
Sensitivity Labels
• General availability of S/MIME support for Windows is now available in Office Current Channel, ensuring parity with the AIP add-in. For more information.
• Preview of protected meetings by labelling invitations and calendar responses, Teams meetings and chat.
Records Management and Retention
• Disposition Review no longer has a maximum of 1,000,000 items per pending or reviewed label. This limitation has been removed of the limitations of retention policies and retention label policies.
Insider Risk Management
• File path examples to designate specific folders and subfolders and wildcard folders to exclude.
Communication Compliance
• New transparency note to communicate the objective and intended uses of Machine Learning in policy templates that use classifiers for business conduct and regulatory compliance.
• Change of time zone, from local time zone to Coordinated Universal Time (UTC), for policy activity detection, user-reported messages and report filters.
• Update of the built-in trainable and global classifiers in order to increase the visibility of details specific to pre-trained classifiers. Includes updated word count requirements for messages in English and non-English languages.
